In 2015, Japanese jazz fusion drummer and Yamaha endorser Akira Jimbo introduced his own signature snare drum to celebrate his 35th anniversary in the business. Naturally, this versatile snare, characteristically nicknamed 'The Metal' by Akira Jimbo himself, boasts a number of special features.
Yamaha Akira Jimbo Signature 14 x 5" snare drum
This signature snare drum's shell is 5 inches deep, has a diameter of 14 inches, and is made of 1mm-thick steel. What makes the snare truly remarkable, however, is the Resonant Control Cord that is wound around the shell underneath the lugs. By tightening or loosening this cord, you're able to control the drum's resonance and overtones. Yamaha's product range was already quite comprehensive, but with 'The Metal', Akira Jimbo has added an attractive, truly unique snare drum.
