Dtronics DT-RDX-V2 Controller for Reface DX
General
As soon as it first dropped in 2015, the Yamaha Reface DX was deemed an ingenious little synthesizer. It's much smaller than the classic Yamaha DX Series and, even though the keys are tiny in comparison, they are highly impressive! However, what didn't change is the head-scratcher that is FM synthesis. In response, Dtronics designed a controller specifically for the Reface DX back in 2018 and now, serve up the second edition: the Dtronics DT-RDX-V2 controller. This next-gen controller now features a MIDI-merger and comes loaded with a wide bank of control pots, each designed to make tweaking all those FM parameters, including envelopes, a much easier process.

Well, this is a solid bit of kit, sits very neatly behind the DX Reface. Looks great with the green Operator buttons and the Backlit logo looks Class.
Although the Reface DX has good editing, nothing beat knob twiddling, and you can get amongst it fast and come up with good patches and then fine edit and reference on the DX screen. The DX will not update the area on the screen from the DT-RDX-V2, but you soon automatically press the corresponding Button to see where you are at. I would say if you have sausage fingers the knob could be too small, but for most it makes this very capable FM synth like an FM Mini Moog vibe you soon will understand the flow. Don't delay, get too it !
