Fender 57 Deluxe tube guitar amplifier head

Remember the Fender Deluxe? The original amp from the '50s offered a medium power and was designed to suffice for guitarists in smaller formations. However, as music got louder (blues rockabilly) the distinctive sound of the full-volume Fender Deluxe became a trusted standard in countless recordings. The rich, warm tube sound still stands its ground today, but original '50s models are hard to come by. Those who opt for this Fender '57 Deluxe tube top, however, are instantly taken away to the fifties.

Fender '57 Deluxe: manual labour

The solid-pine housing of this amp has a tweed finish and a leather handle. Its chicken head knobs and other vintage visual features make the '57 Deluxe look very authentic. Internally, Fender fitted the wiring by hand, just like on the other Custom models. High-quality components (Groove Tubes) amplify the signal. Two 12AX7 tubes manage the preamplification, two 6V6 power tubes take the total power up to 12 uncut tube watts and the rectifier is a 5Y3 tube.

Sound

This top has two channels and two inputs per channel, for line and microphone signals. When you use the '57 Deluxe at low volumes, its sound is clean and rich on harmonic trebles, excellently suited for vintage rock, blues and country. Properly put the tubes to work and the Deluxe offers you a wicked distortion. The natural compression of the tubes make this amp perfectly suited for recording purposes. The Fender '57 Deluxe comes with a matching cover.
