The sound of a Fender Stratocaster is instantly recognisable. This guitar model has been around for decades now but 1963, in particular, was a good year for the Strat. Back then, the beloved Strat sound was used in almost every genre of music, from surf to rock n' roll. This Custom Shop Time Machine model is based on a Stratocaster from that glorius period. It's a top-quality American Fender that's been given the special Relic treatment. This means it has all the details that you would expect to find on a model from that time, including signs of ageing like cracks in its nitrocellulose lacquer. This black version has a rosewood fretboard with clay dot position markers just like you would find on a model in 1963.

Fender 1963 Relic Stratocaster: construction

The body is of made of select alder and has solid contours for a comfortable feel. The neck has a familiar feel thanks to the mid-sixties oval C profile with a modern 9.5 inch fretboard radius. The authentic strat sound is picked up by three hand-wound Custom Shop '60s single coils. The middle pickup has reverse polarity to prevent the undesirable 60-cycle hum when the position switch is in postions 2 and 4. A Vintage synchronised tremolo allows you to add subtle vibrato effects easily. In short, this Fender Stratocaster offers you the sound and feel of a vintage instrument.
