This special edition of the American Strat is part of the very rare Factory Special Run series. The Fender FSR American Stratocaster Rustic Ash was modelled after the 2012 American Standard Stratocaster and given a special makeover that included an ash body with a grain that shines through the thin white lacquer. For the first time ever, Fender used a brown anodised aluminium pickguard to accentuate the wood grain, plus a set of fierce Texas special pickups.

Contrary to alder, ash produces fewer mids, accentuating the basses and trebles. Also, ash has a very pretty grain that has been made clearly visible by omitting the lacquer base coat, giving the American Stratocaster Rustic Ash a uniquely faded, rustic look. This Olympic White version has a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fretboard and modern 9.5-inch radius. The fretboard features rolled edges for maximum comfort while playing.

Custom Shop pickups and no-load tone adjustment

The American Stratocaster Rustic Ash is equipped with three Fender Custom Shop Texas Special alnico 5 single-coil pickups that form the basis of the Texas blues sound. These pickups have a higher output and produce a proper dosage of clear mids, sparkling trebles and a tight bass. The middle pickup is reverse-wound to ensure dead-quiet mid positions. Additionally, this guitar is equipped with a 5-position pickup switch, volume control and two no-load tone potentiometers that take themselves out of the circuit in position 10 to provide a more raw tone with extra punch.
