Gretsch G5191MS Tim Armstrong Electromatic guitar Man Salmon
General
The Gretsch G5191MS is a semi-acoustic hollow-body guitar from the Electromatic series, designed in collaboration with songwriter and singer/guitarist Tim Armstrong, the founder of legendary punk rock band Rancid. Don't be fooled by its classic, retro-style looks - this guitar is ready to do some serious shredding. Equipped with two powerful Black Top Filter'Tron pickups, the G5191MS is able to produce ultra-clear cleans as well as ferocious distortion. The Gretsch hollow-body guitar is equipped with a remarkable Man Salmon lacquer finish and chic-looking gold-coloured hardware, and the truss rod cover on the headstock is adorned with Tim Armstrong's signature.
The solid sound of the Gretsch G5191MS Tim Armstrong
The Gretsch G5191MS has been built in accordance with Tim Armstrong's specific instructions and features a slim neck made of a single piece of maple, a white graphite string nut, a zero fret and a rosewood fingerboard with bindings and pearloid block inlays. The 68mm thick body of the guitar is made of 5-ply laminated maple and is fitted with a cutaway for easy access to the 22nd fret. The maple construction of the guitar ensures a neat, clear and direct sound with an open acoustic character thanks to the hollow body and two f-shaped sound holes, while two tone bars beneath the top ensure additional power and a full tone. The body, sound holes, neck and headstock of the Gretsch G5191MS are fitted with graceful black and cream-coloured bindings.
First-class hardware and electronics
The Gretsch G5191 MS is equipped with two Black Top Filter'Tron pickups, each with its own volume and tone control. A master volume knob and a three-way pickup switch are also at your disposal. The FilterTrons are low-output humbucker pickups that have been specifically designed to filter out the electronic noise that is typical for single-coil pickups. They produce the warmth and sustain of a humbucker with the characteristic sparkle and bite of a single-coil. The bridge of this G5191MS Tim Armstrong signature model is an Adjusto-Matic with six adjustable saddles for optimal intonation. The strings are attached to a beautiful harp-style floating tailpiece, and the guitar is also equipped with Grover tuners and a unique Gretsch strap lock system.
