You're forgiven for mistaking this Krome for the KingKorg at first glance. Thanks to its gold-coloured finish, the Krome 61 GD resembles that other Korg synthesizer quite a bit. This limited gold edition of the Korg workstation has been issued to commemorate Korg's 50th anniversary. The Krome has made quite a name for itself - it's a real powerhouse within its price range - and definitely worth your consideration. It's equipped with a sequencer, so you can use it to produce your own music. A wide range of different sounds, a sizeable display and a user-friendly interface allow you to explore any music genre at leisure.
The sound of the Korg Krome 61 GD workstation gold
Think back to the 1990s, when the number of samples a synth or workstation had to offer was expressed in megabytes (or megabits, if the manufacturer really wanted to make an impression). This Krome 61 is a modern device, though, and its samples are measured in gigabytes instead. Strings, horns, guitars, pianos, drums and synths are all included, allowing for comprehensive arrangements and productions. The Grand Piano is particularly impressive, which shouldn't be a big surprise, considering the largest part of the sample memory has been dedicated to this piano sound. It's an excellent all-rounder - bread 'n butter, as the experts say - that enables you to comfortably create outstanding music productions.
A practical interface
One of the most eye-catching features of the Krome 61 GD is its large colour display. The 7-inch touch screen supports dragging and swiping, which allows you to effortlessly adjust the many parameters of the sound engine, even though they are not physically represented. The Korg Krome 61 GD is not just a synthesizer, but serves as a workstation too. It's equipped with a 16-track sequencer that can be operated by means of the touch screen, making it easy (and fun!) to make your own music productions. If you have producer aspirations and prefer to work out of the box, this comprehensive and user-friendly Korg workstation is a great place to start!
