This five-piece Saturn IV MH shell set from Mapex' Maple Hybrid series has a beautiful Marine Spiral finish, with a black base and diagonal streaks of blue and gold. The Mapex MH in Marine Spiral has received a number of hardware upgrades, compared to drum kits from the previous Saturn series. These are the SONIClear tom mounting system and the SONIClear floor tom legs, the low-contact bass drum claw hooks and the bass drum spurs with the Memory Mark system (which allows you to position your bass drum just right every single time) Even the Mapex badge has been redesigned, along with the lugs.

Mapex Saturn IV MH Marine Spiral: 6-ply toms and an 8-ply bass drum

This Mapex Saturn IV MH Marine Spiral from the Maple Hybrid series has 6-ply shells for the snare and toms, and an 8-ply shell for the bass drum. The shells are hand-crafted and made of North American maple and walnut. This combination produces that clear Mapex tone, with lots of resonance. The bass drum has a 22-inch diameter and is 20 inches deep, there are two toms, measuring 10 x 7 and 12 x 8 inches, and two floor toms that are 14 x 12 and 16 x 14 inches in size, respectively. The toms are fitted with Remo Emperor Clear drumheads and the bass drum has a Remo P3 bass drumhead.

SONIClear tom mounting system

The SONIClear tom mounting system does not just provide better resonance, it also keeps the vibrations contained within the shells and heads. This mounting system does not make contact with the tension rods, which ensures that your heads stay in tune much longer and makes replacing the drumheads much easier. The low-contact bass drum claw hooks have a rubber lining that prevents them from rattling while you play and protects the finish of the bass drum hoops.
