Made from a naturally grown gourd, every Pearl PNG-20 Natural Gourd Guiro is a unique instrument. The hollow gourd is fitted with a fibreglass lining, which adds strength and volume to the instrument. It also has two playing surfaces with differently spaced grooves: one side has thin grooves that are very near to each other and create a lighter sound, and the other has deeper grooves that are a little further apart and thus create a deeper sound. It is also equipped with a rubber ring around the opening, or 'mouth', of the guiro for increased durability.
