Communicate using the rhythmic sounds of the Meinl HDJ5-XL Headliner series djembe. Originally, African djembes were used as a means to communicate between different villages. Now, though, you can use this 13-inch mahogany djembe to produce a sound that is all your own. It features a high-quality goatskin drumhead that is tuned by means of an ancient Malinese weaving technique, for an optimal sound and a traditional look. Furthermore, the 25-inch deep shell gives the drum a rich, deep timbre.

The drumhead is mounted using durable, 6mm-thick nylon ropes with 24 runners that are pulled taut to evenly distribute the tension on the drumhead, and keeping the drum's tone consistent. Additionally, the Headliner djembe features a handy strap so you can play standing up. With the HDJ5-XL, Meinl offers an extra large djembe with a beautiful sound.
