Back in the sixties, many guitar manufacturers experimented with new materials to save on building costs. This Eastwood Airline MAP DLX is a modern reissue of the characteristic 1962 National MAP guitar that was shaped after the map of America and was originally made of two parts of fibreglass bolted together. This Eastwood Airline MAP DLX has the exact same looks but features a massively improved construction. What's more, it is far more affordable than an original Res-O-Glass MAP guitar (if you can find one, that is). This guitar is white.

Eastwood Airline MAP DLX: mahogany hollow body

Contrary to the original MAP guitar, this Airline version is made of wood: solid mahogany with hollowed-out sound chambers. Mahogany provides a much better resonance than the original fibreglass, giving this guitar a fuller, richer tone. Thanks to its partially hollow interior, it retains its distinctively light weight and open sound. The neck of this guitar is made of maple and features a rosewood fretboard with 22 frets and graceful pearloid block inlays. Its relatively short 24.75-inch scale length makes it smooth to play for both beginners and advanced players.

Hardware and electronics

The Airline MAP DLX by Eastwood is equipped with two Alnico Hot-10 humbucker pickups that produce a full, rich, clear sound in all three positions, despite their high output. A 3-position pickup switch, a volume control per pickup and a master tone offer a wide range of sounds. This guitar's bridge is a Tune-O-Matic with roller saddles. Combined with the Bigsby tremolo, this bridge allows you to create wild vibrato effects without jeopardising the guitar's tuning. To fully complete the picture, this guitar has a National-style pickguard with the characteristic striping.
