Epiphone Flying V Prophecy Yellow Tiger Aged Gloss Electric Guitar
General
While the body of the Epiphone Prophecy retains the classic shape of a legendary Flying V 1958, this fierce solid-body is definitely future-focused. Developed and built by Gibson's own daughter-company, this uncompromising Flying-V comes loaded with a fierce pair of active Fishman Fluence humbuckers. Push the tone push-pull tone pot down to get a classic PAF-style tone, then pull it out for a solid double-coil sound that can be used to build a brick-wall of distortion. Push the volume pot down and split the humbuckers in two for a classic single-coil sound, but without any of the classic 60-cycle hum interrupting the clarity of your cleans and crunches.
The Flying V Prophecy: Comfort, Stability, & Purity
The ultra-modern Flying-V Prophecy feels just as comfortable as it looks. The SlimTaper neck has an accommodating asymmetrical profile that feels snug in the fret-hand no matter where you are along the fretboard, and while this feature seems like modern innovation, it was actually first developed by Gibson guitar builders back in the '50s and has seen a welcome recent resurgence. More contemporary treats include a set of Grover Rotomatic Locking Tuners that don't just ensure accurate tuning and fast re-stringing, but combine with a GraphTech NuBone nut and LockTone bridge-and-tailpiece combo, to ensure near unshakable stability and intonation. This guitar has managed to pick out all of the very best bits of the rich history of the Flying-V then pack them into a tightly finished and defiantly focused tone machine.

Every model has been honed, sharpened, and freshened up, so we're treated to an upgraded Les Paul, SG, and even a Flying V. Purchased as a B-stock product. As much as it is playable and sounds really good, the quality control failed badly, especially on the neck. What is spotted right out of the box is the poor job on the binding, that looks incomplete / poorly finished. There is also a massive amount of fret buzz, and the neck seems impossible to straighten ideally. When checking with the straight edge tool, the fretboard almost looks wavy, instead of being straight, or curved to one side or the other. Overall, nothing that can't be fixed, but there is a certain amount of disappointment with this product.
