The Michael Landau Signature 1968 Relic Stratocaster is a dual tribute. Fender honours session talent Landau with a faithful replica of his old Strat from the American Custom Shop. Michael himself sees this Stratocaster as a homage to Leo Fender's original design because it is just as ingenious today as it was in the '50s. Everything about this Strat is right, from the large headstock to the vintage fretboard radius of 7.25 inches. A nitrocellulose lacquer gives it the feel and appearance of genuine old Stratocaster. A good sound begins with a good body. That's why Fender has selected a special lightweight ash for this model. The thin nitrocellulose lacquer still allows the wood to breathe and keep its responsive dynamics. The neck is also lacquered, which gives it a vintage look and feel. Your hand will fit naturally around its custom C profile for optimal playing comfort. Three Custom Shop Fat '50s single-coils give the instrument great versatility. The pickups are wound by hand for a perfect output. Clearly, a lot of love has gone into producing this model.

Any idea what Seal, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd and Miles Davis have in common? They've all worked with session legend Michael Landau, of course! At a relatively young age, Landau was exposed to the turbulent jazz world in Los Angeles. He started playing guitar when he was eleven years old. A few years later, he went on tour with Robben Ford - another talented musician. Taking the advice of his friend Steve Lukather (Toto), Michael began doing session work at the age of 20, which he has now been doing for over 30 years!
