Flame Maple Top American Stratocaster: versatile sound

Since the 1950s, Fender has used ash to make many of its models, and this Strat is no exception. This wood is used because of its excellent tone and offers good resonance, long sustain and a creamy sound. With solid bass and fine trebles the Strat has a very versatile character. It is fitted with two hand-wound '69 single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions and a Texas Special in the bridge position. The middle pickup is reverse-wound and has reverse polarity to prevent the typical '60 cycle hum that occurs when the pickup switch is in positions 2 and 4.
