Smashing down the limits of innovation, Ibanez offer their own take on the headless guitar. Way more than a gimmick, the Q-Series Q547 seven-string electric guitar has an uber-lightweight nyatoh body that bears super-ergonomic contouring from the belly-cut to the lower horn, and on to the chunk that's been taken out of the base - all before it's been coated in a Chameleon Metallic Matte paint-job. This has been teamed up with a roasted birdseye maple fretboard and five-piece roasted maple and bubinga neck to build a firm and ultimately balanced foundation. This effortless balance is assured by the absent headstock, which has been replaced with a specially designed string lock and a smart Mono-Tune bridge - a system that's fully compatible with standard strings - all seven of them.

At first glance, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the Ibanez QX547 is an average tone beast, but you'd be wrong. Each of the twenty-four Jescar EVO Gold frets have been set into the flattened 15.75 inch radius fretboard resulting in near effortless playability, no matter the technique. Meanwhile, the warm, mid and treble rich foundation sound of the construction is translated with finesse by the single Q58-7 humbucker at the bridge and the pair of R1-7 at the neck and in the middle. Mould the output via the standard-issue set of tone and volume pots before flipping through no less than nine different profiles via the expansive dyna-MIX9 switching system. In brief, this model has been built with the discerning guitar-based tech-head in mind.
