The D'Angelico Excel SS Tour single-cutaway semi-acoustic guitar offers a tight retro look and a high-spec build, where a refined throwback scroll-style headstock combines with nickel-plated hardware. Meanwhile, the body has been crafted using laminated maple before being glued to a stable 3-piece maple neck that comes topped with a dark ebony fretboard for bonus style points as well as a transparent acoustic foundation sound filled with forceful basses and trebles. Thanks to the included gig bag, this Tour Series hollowbody can be safely stored or lugged around.
The Excel SS Tour: A Broad Spectrum of 50s-Style Sounds
The Excel SS Tour offers the satisfying playing comfort of a thinline archtop model with slightly larger upper bouts and a classic C-profile neck. This, combined with the twenty-two medium jumbo frets and 12-inch fretboard radius paves the way for smooth solos or tight rhythm parts, all while vintage tone is taken care of by two specially-designed Supro Bolt Buckers: an Alnico 5 bridge humbucker and an Alnico 2 double-coil neck pickup. Lastly, so you can explore a vast range of Fifties-style sounds, D'Angelico have finished this tour-grade semi-acoustic guitar with a set of standard volume and tone pots and a 3-way pickup switch.
