For years, the Neumann U 87 Ai has been one of the most popular large-diaphragm condenser microphones for vocals. This studio legend is also ideal as an overhead mic for drums and for recording pianos, where you'd need two. That's where the U 87 Ai MT stereo set comes in since it bundles up two of these first-rate studio mikes plus a pair of matching shock mounts - all wrapped up in a deluxe case.
The Neumann U 87 Ai
The U 87 Ai's popularity is mainly due to its unrivalled sound quality. Instruments get an extra dose of presence which means there's less work to do to make them stand out when mixing. Equipped with a high-pass filter and a -10 dB attenuator, the U 87 Ai is also capable of capturing sound with a cardioid, omnidirectional or bi-directional polar pattern.
