The Dark Matter Distortion by TC Electronic is based on the gain circuit of the iconic Marshall Plexi amps. Notable rock legends such as Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page loved these amps for their tight overdrive. As such, the Dark Matter can be rightfully called a Plexi in a box. This fully analogue pedal offers both classic and modern sounds, and handles any style of music you throw at it. Due to low compression, the pedal accurately reacts to the dynamics of your playing.
TC Electronic Dark Matter: Classic Plexi Sounds
This Dark Matter distortion stomp box features a two-band EQ that lets you carefully set the level of treble and bass in the signal. The voicing switch can be used to switch between the classic Plexi sound and a modern gain character. No matter how much you turn up the gain, your sound remains transparent and won't get muddied. TC Electronic have thoughtfully fitted the pedal with a silent switch that makes no noise when toggled on and off.. Naturally, the Dark Matter is a true-bypassed stompbox and can be supplied with power via a 9V battery or an adapter. Are you ready to drop the darkest of riffs?

Goede metalen doos met stevige knoppen. Goeie distortion met twee tone-knoppen, eindelijk! Tot mijn grote vreugde heel goed te stapelen met een andere distortion. Ik kan bovenop de TC een stevige solide metal distrtion gooien en dan word ie lekker gemeen.
Reçue en temps et en heure, c'est une excellente pédale de disto délivrant un son puissant et doux à la fois sans jamais dénaturé le son caractéristique de votre guitare. Je l'adore! Top qualité signé TC Electronique. Je n'hésiterai pas à m'offrir d'autres pédales de cette marque, elles valent vraiment le détour. Merci Bax shop, service parfait encore une fois, rien à redire! Chapeau bas!
Nog maar net binnen.Veel waar voor je geld. Eerste ervaringen zijn echt wel goed. Stevige behuizing. Gain precies in te stellen, dat is erg fijn. Perfect pedaaltje voor rock/blues, niet voor metal. Ik merk helaas weinig van de voice-switch.

Ik had eigenlijk mijn zin op een MXR Distortion staan dat toch een goed apparaat is.
Maar ik kwam de TC Electronic Dark Matter Distortion tegen op mijn zoektocht.
Wat ik een beetje zocht was het ouderwetse jaren '80 geluid en ook hier ging ik op onderzoek op het YouTube kanaal.
Natuurlijk word alles mooier en beter voorgedaan dan de werkelijkheid zou kunnen zijn.
Maar voor mij was dit het perfecte distortion geluid dat ik zocht.
TC elektronic maakt het allemaal "HufterProof".
Prijs-Kwaliteit verhouding geldt hier ook: Veel Rock voor weinig geld.
Dit is een MUST HAVE voor de gitarist. Zeker gezien de prijs. Kwaliteit van TC Electronic.
Razendsnel binnen. Niks op aan te merken. Altijd vertrouwd bestellen bij Bax.
Een zeer goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding. Voor mensen die niet zoveel van distortion afweten zijn er hier alvast genoeg mogelijkheden om te experimenteren. Ik denk niet echt voor metal maar je kan er echt wel stevig mee scheuren !
Fijne pedaal, stevig en met flinke knoppen zodat hij subtiel instelbaar is. Niet alleen voor het grove werk maar ook voor een bescheiden randje aan je cleane geluid. De vervorming is ook afhankelijk van je aanslag. Heel goed voor deze prijs !
Ik heb al redelijk wat pedalen, dure en minder dure. dit is toch wel de beste pedaal in zijn prijsklasse. Perfect voor pop,rock, wat hardrock. Ik raad wel aan om dti niet te gebruiken voor metal. Top product!
Vanwege de naam dacht ik dat dit een metal pedaal was, maar dit is het niet. Verder wel een goed product voor de prijs. Dit is mijn eerst pedaal dus kan er verder niet veel over kwijt, voor mij is het een kwestie van uitproberen.
Op de ruis na die bij een beetje gain al aanwezig is een leuke pedaal voor weinig geld
Heerlijke overdrive in de trend van een blues driver maar dan met wat meer mogelijkheden. Hij heeft wat meer headroom dan een Boss BD, kan van een lichte overdrive tot een vet distortion geluid met relatief weinig compressie. Wanneer de pickups veel bas doorgeven kan hij wat mushy worden, met een vlakkere respons is hij echt te overwegen. De voice switch doet weinig, jammer, ik had daar een mid boost/scoop van verwacht maar deze doet marginaal iets met de bas. Het is geen metal pedaal wat de naam zou vermoeden maar als overdrive/distortion is hij zeker de moeite waard. Voor blues licks, slagwerk en solo's is hij erg goed.

A great distortion pedal for the money. Can get a bit mushy if you over egg tbe gain control but less is more with this pedal in my opinion. Gain at around 11 oclock is enough for classic rock without losing clarity of chords.
But obviously tone depends on many factors including pickups, guitar and amplifier so well worth getting one for this price and spending a little time working with it in your own particular setup.
