This ultra-modern 5-string bass doesn't just come with hot sauce poured all over its extreme sonic versatility and playability, but its entire look - from lower bout to headstock. This is the Ibanez Premium SR5FMDX2. Hot and fresh from the Japanese Ibanez kitchen, this model has been furnished with a thin and smoothly rounded-off SR body shape, which has been coated in a half-gloss finish to bring out the complex wood grain of the flamed maple and ash front and back. Topped off with an MR5S bridge, a solid five-piece Atlas-5 neck and a set of medium frets that have undergone Ibanez' own Premium Fret-Edge Treatment, this bass serves up sublime playing comfort.
The Ibanez Premium SR5FMDX2: Contemporary Balance
The warm and balanced foundation sound of the solid mahogany body delivers an extra level of sustain while a pair of Nordstrand Big Break passive pickups capture the natural resonance with full, flavour-packed character with help of an active Custom Electronics preamp. Blend the two pickups using the Balancer pot before tweaking the output in depth using the three-band EQ section and Mid Frequency switch, or just toggle the EQ bypass switch and skip the lot for more passive-style sound.
