Fender SPC ED LONSTR STRAT RW GST SLV
The name of this Fender guitar refers to the Lone Star state: Texas, America's largest state. It's aptly named too, as it features two high-output Texas Special single-coil pickups for Fender's largest single-coil sound. What's more, the Texas Specials are perfectly matched by a Fender Twin Head humbucker in the bridge position. Further still, the striking Ghost Silver finish is befitting of a guitar with such imposing specifications
Construction
With an alder body and a bolt-on maple neck, this Lone Star Strat follows a tried and tested recipe for creating a good Stratocaster. Its 22-fret rosewood fretboard makes that its overall sound is slightly warmer than that of versions with a maple fingerboard. The vibrato unit is a 6-saddle synchronised tremolo with six screws. The overall construction of this guitar is standard - excellent - Stratocaster quality, but it's the pickups that make it truly exceptional. The Texas Specials are powerful, fierce and very versatile thanks to the clever S1 switch.
Texas Specials, Twin Head and S1
The two Texas Special single-coil pickups produce a high output, striking mids, tight bass and crystal-clear trebles. They are the perfect set for Texas blues along the lines of Stevie Ray Vaughan for instance. In the bridge position, there's a Fender-designed Twin Head humbucker with an exceptionally high output that can handle anything from classic rock to extreme metal. Additionally, the S-1 allows you to switch the inner coil of the Twin Head off, in order to use this guitar as a classic Stratocaster with an SSS pickup configuration.

Ik had deze gitaar besteld als aanvulling op een Gibson. Ze stond in eerste instantie vermeld bij de amerikaanse fenders maar dit bleek achteraf niet zo te zijn. Kon ook bijna niet voor die prijs. Ik heb hier met Bax over gebeld en de verkoper verzekerde mij dat er zo goed als geen verschil in zit met een amerikaanse fender. Ik ben speciaal naar een muziekwinkel gereden om deze te vergelijken met een amerikaanse en er zit tussen de 2 gitaren totaal geen verschil. Niet in het spelen en ook niet in de sound. Er was toevallig een gitaar leraar aanwezig en deze stelde hetzelfde vast. De gitaar klinkt zoals je van een fender kan verwachten maar ik heb ze niet gehouden omdat het niet helemaal de sound was die ik zocht. minpunt bij fender blijft ook de tremolo. Uiteindelijk heb ik voor een mexicaanse hss met floyd rose gekozen. Die beviel wel heel goed.

Ik heb van deze gitaar het B-stock model gekocht (een retour van een vorige klant) omdat dit mij zo'n 150,- scheelde. Bij de status van het product stond dat het meerdere gebruikerssporen had, en dat er accessoires ontbraken. Echter, toen ik de gitaar heb ontvangen zaten er een gigbag, vibratoarm, handleidingen/garantiebewijzen en inbussleuteltjes bij. Al het beschermplatsic zat nog over de humbucker, de slagplaat en de backplate en er was totaal geen sprake van gebruikerssporen. Deze gitaar is dus praktisch als nieuw! Het is mijn tweede elektrische gitaar, en hij speelt echt geweldig in vergelijking met mijn Squier Vintage Modified Stratocaster. Wel ga ik er nog DiMarzio/Seymour Duncan pickups in solderen omdat ik zelf voornamelijk vaak distortion en overdrive gebruik.
De gitaar is erg licht (vergelijkbaar met basswood) en de afwerking is heel erg apart. Een klasse product, en er zit een mooie 70's headstock op (hier ben ik zelf helemaal weg van)!
