General
With this KPS1465/SC386 Pearl has definitely developed a very special snare drum. That is mostly because this is the first Pearl snare drum that is made entirely of kapur wood. Kapur is an Asian wood type that is twice as dense as mahogany, giving it a warm, dry and mild sound. The excellent tone balance of this 14 x 6.5-inch snare drum makes it very well suited for studio use. Furthermore, the snare has a beautiful clear lacquer finish, that allows the natural colour of the kapur wood to stand out.
Pearl KPS1465/SC386: Hardware
This snare drum is equipped with steel SuperHoop II hoops. The tension on the drumhead is kept by tension rods that are mounted into the good-looking tube lugs. Not only are these lugs a joy to behold, they also make minimal contact with the shell. Furthermore, Pearl chose to use the SR-017 vertical snare strainer. This special edition snare drum is only available in a limited supply, at a very reasonable price.
