An ode to a legend of guitar history, this roaming musician's favourite can now be plugged in to engage the mounted P-90 pickup complete with volume and tone controls. The Hogshead is James Neligan's take on the Cigar Box Guitar. This 4-string semi-acoustic guitar can be tuned to the same pitch as the first four strings of a standard six-string guitar or using one of many classic open tunings. The solidly cool Cigar Box has been finished with round soundholes covered by faux-wood grilles and comes coated in a sleek satin-gloss, Cask Coal black.

Wow! Ik was op zoek naar een instapgitaar met 4 snaren, gewoon omdat ik 6 teveel vond. Maar een bariton ukulele vond ik te lief klinken. Toen ben ik gaan speuren en kwam op het spoor van cigarbox-gitaren. Deze is in een woord heerlijk! Goede akoestische sound met een ruig randje. Heerlijk over gitaarverster. Ik heb ergens een "chord chart" gevonden met alle akkoorden voor de DGBD-stemming en ik ben niet meer te houden. :D

De gitaar is prima, maar de info die door BAX wordt verstrekt klopt niet helemaal. De nek heeft wel een truss rod (dus inbus sleuteltje meegeleverd) en je krijgt er wel degelijk een leuke J.N. gigbag bij. Op de verpakking staat "European Design. Belgium" en dus niet "Made in Belgium". Dat betekent waarschijnlijk dat de bouw voordelig uit wordt besteed aan een fabriek ergens in Azië. Zolang de quality control maar oké is alleen maar goed voor de knip toch? En de kwaliteit is merkbaar puik in orde. Hij kwam zelfs keurig gestemd en direct speelbaar uit de doos.
