Here, Fender take the much-sought-after 'Japanese Vintage' reissues of the eighties, throw in a healthy forkful of upgrades, dip it in a classic Two-Color Sunburst finish, and serve up the mouth-watering, umami-infused JV Modified '50s Stratocaster HSS. While the throw-back body shape and layout hold fast to tradition, the playability has been pushed into the present thanks to 21 medium-jumbo frets, a Soft-V profile maple neck, and a set of secure vintage-style locking machine heads.

Just like the classic Japanese Fender Strats, this JV Modified Series axe bears the balanced tonal foundation of a basswood body, but here, it's been decked out with a surprisingly flexible set of electronics. This is not just because of the Hot Vintage Alnico humbucker at the bridge, or the Vintage-Style Single-Coil Strat® pickups at the neck and middle positions, but because of the push/pull function of the second tone pot. Push in the pot to coil-split the humbucker, fire-off unadulterated single-coil sound, and gain access to an elastic sonic range.
