The Onyx Blackjack is a compact 2x2 USB recording interface with a practical desktop design. Thanks to a number of great, user-friendly features, working with this Mackie interface is a piece of cake.

With the Blackjack, excellent audio quality is guaranteed. The interface features two Onyx microphone preamplifiers, both equipped with phantom power. It's bus-powered to keep it nice and mobile, and features built-in DI inputs and separate level controls for monitors and headphones. The Mackie Onyx Blackjack recording interface is compatible with nearly all Mac and PC audio software, and comes with a copy of Tracktion 3 music production software.

Ik heb er een beetje gemixte gevoelens bij.

Enerzijds zijn de features heel goed, goede voorversterkers, je kan er direct je gitaar op aansluiten en het is mogelijk om zonder vertraging terugluisteren. Het is daarnaast een ontzettend robuust kastje, helemaal van metaal, je hoeft er niet bepaald voorzichtig mee om te gaan.

Echter, onder Windows XP werken de drivers slecht of niet. Dit is helaas een vaker voorkomend probleem. Het is al sinds november 2010 zo, maar er is tot op heden (januari 2011) nog niks aan gedaan. De bijgeleverde ASIO drivers werken niet (bij Vista/Windows 7 voor zover ik weet wel), maar dit is nog te omzeilen met ASIO4All. Daarnaast komt er echter soms ook alleen maar ruis uit in plaats van signaal en dat is wel verschrikkelijk storend.

Conclusie
Als je een Mac hebt is het een aanrader, je krijgt zeker waar voor je geld en drivers heb je met een Mac niet nodig. Maar met Windows zou ik door de slechte driver-ondersteuning voor een andere interface gaan.
