Korg SV2 88S stage piano

A few years back, we witnessed the dawn of the Korg Stage Vintage Series and the birth of a highly successful and well-loved model of stage pianos. The control panel was not only thoughtfully designed but created a cosy and safe-little space for more modest key-players to hide on stage. As such, this feel-good piano has got its sequel: The Korg SV2S 88. Essentially the same concept but generously expanded.

The Concept and Layout of the Korg SV2S

The beauty of the Korg SV2 is that the most important functions are placed right in front of your nose. Select a sound group, select a sound variation and then play around with the effects. Since effects have increasingly become a sort of bonus at the expense of some essential controls, the inclusion of effects here is no small matter. Here, Korg have understood the utter importance of effects and as such, if you need more reverb, instead of searching through a memory back, you simply twist the dedicated rotary knob, and if you need to lose some of the low-frequencies - you simply twist the dedicated rotary knob. If it weren't so obvious, it might cause a revolution.

The Sounds of the Korg SV2

This is a stage piano so, primarily your getting a host of piano sounds. Grand pianos and more diverse pianos like those of the Korg M1 and then pianos that sound like they've spent a hundred years or more sitting in the corner of a saloon. The electric pianos include the Rhodes, Wurlitzer, a list of FM-pianos and naturally, plenty more. Organs, a harpsichord, clavinet, church organ lie alongside a number of strings and pads. The sound of this machine has been based on samples but houses ten times the number of the previous model and includes new, rich sounds that have been sampled with incredible detail and are reproduced with a 128 polyphony for layering. With the SV2, you even get trumpets and helicopters to sonically mess around with and, using the editing software, it's possible to split and layer sounds and save them.
