The 16-inch Byzance Extra Dry Medium Thin Hi-hats are hand-hammered in Meinl's own facilities in Turkey. These hi-hats really live up to their name, as they sound extremely dry, with a low-pitched, trashy and short sound, courtesy of their unlathed, hand-hammered surface.

Large hi-hats have become increasingly more popular over the years, as they produce a broad sound with plenty of low-end and volume, while still keeping their control and focus. These 16-inch hats are made of B20 bronze, and are excellently suited for styles such as rock, funk, R&B and jazz. Even in a recording environment, these hats are a real asset.

Raw

The raw finish and untreated material, made of B20 bronze (80% copper, 20% tin), result in an extreme, dark sound with short sustain. These 16-inch hi-hats offer a wide range of low frequencies and a dominating character. However, these Byzance Extra Dry medium-thin hats never sound too cutting, and maintain a civilised volume. Their sound lies somewhere between ominous and esoteric, especially when you play them half opened, and they offer a dark response with relatively little wash. With these Meinl Byzance hi-hats, you're getting your hands on an excellent set of hats.
