Once you put her together, the itty-bitty Moog Mavis bears the sonic flexibility of an Olympian gymnast. This potent basal analogue synthesizer comes loaded with a twenty-four-strong patch bay and Eurorack-friendly dimensions. Perfect for any fledgling tech-head, whether or not they've even touched a synth before, this build pack doesn't actually require that much work. Simply mount the circuit board into the housing and secure it in place using the included screws. From there, Mavis can serve as a tabletop synth or as a module as part of a Eurorack wall. Meanwhile, at her core, Mavis has a single oscillator, a filter, amplifier, LFO and ADSR envelope, and since she's semi-modular, that fat patch bay can be used to fully customise half of the architecture, meaning that she offers far more control options than her control panel would have you believe.

As we've already hinted at, the magic of Mavis lies in the patch bay. These twenty-four ports don't just make this unit a worthy Eurorack addition, but they can be patched into other Moog gear like the Mother-32 or the DFAM to expand the setup. Although the oscillator is fairly simple, it doesn't just offer a sawtooth, squarewave, and all the bits in between, but an extra Fold waveform that can be deployed to sculpt sounds that you've never heard come out of a Moog before. Another tasty bonus is a Sample & Hold generator that packs extra life into features like the LFO. All-in-all, Mavis is one extensive little synth, and since she comes bundled up with all the Moog-grade candy you could hope for, she's well worth the investment.
