Ortega Eclipse Series TE6
General
Specially made for adventurous players and those who love double-voiced sound, Ortega serve up the six-string TE6 as part of their tasteful-looking Eclipse Series ukuleles. Since the C and A strings are doubled, this model matches the vibe of a 12-string guitar or mandolin in its own way while the combination of woods used for the build graces with natural beauty with a delicate and warm foundation sound. The TE6 features an extra soundhole on the side for an added dose of acoustic awareness, and full playing comfort is offered by a forearm contour that resembles those usually found on electric string instruments. Also, to prepare you for new adventures, the Ortega TE6 even comes complete with a deluxe gig bag.

Ortega TE6. Recently purchased for my birthday by my Wife. As it isn't my birthday yet, I haven't had in-depth experience of this ukulele but these are my views so far. The instrument arrived promptly and well packed. On opening, I must admit that it has a wow factor with its modern eye-catching design. It appears to be well-made and finished. The mahogany construction gives it a warm, bluesy sound similar to an 8 string which I already own but there is enough difference to give it its own voice. On the downside the action is very high for my liking so I popped a capo on the second fret and tuned it down which is something that I do on double-stringed instruments anyway. Not too sure about the strings yet. The low A string is wound, which I'm not over keen on with ukuleles so I may change these. Overall, with its smart padded gigbag this is a very nice uke which, I'm sure, will become my go-to instrument.
