The man behind the drums in Toto, Simon Phillips has been a Tama drummer forever - high time for his own signature snare. The design starts with Simon's favourite colour: green, which has been applied in a transparent lacquer and set off by a signature stripe and, beyond the paintwork, it's clear that you're looking at a masterpiece of a snare. The shell has been made from eight plies of African mahogany, recognised by its red-brown colour and, to reinforce the 6mm thick wall, the top and bottom have been finished with mahogany rings. Eight lugs have also been mounted per side in place of ten, allowing the drum to breathe fully, whether it's tuned to a low or high pitch and, since it's been polished off with a high-grade set of brass Mighty Hoops, this Simon Phillips Signature snare drum responds with a warm and full attack.
