Flame Maple Top American Stratocaster: construction

Fender has chosen lightweight ash for the body of this guitar. This type of wood has been used since the '50s because of its excellent sound qualities. It has good resonance and provides the Stratocaster with a clear tone and a long sustain. The Fender's singing and sparkling sounds are picked up by a hand-wound Texas Special in the bridge position and two '69 single-coils in the middle and neck positions. The middle pickup is reverse wound with reverse polarity to prevent undesirable noise when the pickup switch is in positions 2 and 4. Subtle vibrato effects can be added to your sound by using the Custom Deluxe two-point tremolo. The bridge's six smooth block saddles offer optimal playing comfort.
